Cuisine American
- 1 lb fresh asparagus spears woody ends snapped off
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 1 lemon juiced
- Coarse salt and black pepper to taste
Snap off the woody ends of each asparagus spear at its natural breaking point.
Toss spears with olive oil, salt, and pepper on a rimmed baking sheet in a single layer.
Roast at 400°F for 10-12 minutes until tips are blistered and stalks are tender-crisp.
Melt butter with minced garlic in a small pan until fragrant.
Drizzle warm garlic butter over the hot roasted asparagus and toss to coat.
Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
Serve immediately while warm and glossy.
- Choose thick spears for roasting so they don't overcook as quickly as thin ones.
- Do not add minced garlic before roasting; add it to the butter afterward to avoid burning under high heat.
- Snap, don't cut, the woody ends for a perfectly trimmed spear every time.
