Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh asparagus spears woody ends snapped off
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • Coarse salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Snap off the woody ends of each asparagus spear at its natural breaking point.
  • Toss spears with olive oil, salt, and pepper on a rimmed baking sheet in a single layer.
  • Roast at 400°F for 10-12 minutes until tips are blistered and stalks are tender-crisp.
  • Melt butter with minced garlic in a small pan until fragrant.
  • Drizzle warm garlic butter over the hot roasted asparagus and toss to coat.
  • Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
  • Serve immediately while warm and glossy.

Notes

  • Choose thick spears for roasting so they don't overcook as quickly as thin ones.
  • Do not add minced garlic before roasting; add it to the butter afterward to avoid burning under high heat.
  • Snap, don't cut, the woody ends for a perfectly trimmed spear every time.
